ARIZONA AUTOMOBILE THEFT AUTHORITY AWARDS NEARLY $6 MILLION IN FY24 GRANT FUNDING TO ARIZONA LAW ENFORCEMENT AGENCIES
PHOENIX, AZ - The Arizona Automobile Theft Authority (ATA), a division of the Arizona Department of Insurance and Financial Institutions, announces its FY24 Grant Program awards totaling nearly $6 Million for the Arizona Vehicle Theft Task Force and Vertical Prosecution programs.
The FY24 annual grant awards approved by the ATA Board of Directors include $4,521,200 to the Arizona Department of Public Safety (DPS) to operate the statewide, multi-agency Vehicle Theft Task Force and nearly $1.4 million awarded to six county attorneys offices (La Paz, Maricopa, Mohave, Pima, Pinal and Santa Cruz) for salary and employee related expenses to support their Vertical Prosecution programs.
For FY23, the Arizona Vehicle Theft Task Force conducted 400 felony arrests, recovered 1,905 stolen vehicles, valued at $36,123,000. The Vertical Prosecution program results include 1,680 cases charged, 1,486 felony convictions and nearly $500,000 ordered in restitution.
