The Arizona Department of Financial Institutions (AZDFI) has statutory authority over Arizona State chartered banks and Arizona State chartered credit unions; it does not have authority over all banks and credit unions operating in Arizona.
To see banks and credit unions that AZDFI does regulate click HERE. All Arizona State chartered banks and credit unions that appear on the list are federally insured. You can access the FDIC’s Bank find for more detailed information on your bank, and NCUA’S find a credit union for more detailed information on your credit union. To file a complaint with AZDFI, click here.
For a current listing of all banks headquartered in Arizona, you can utilize the FDIC’s find an institution page by inserting Arizona as the State and pressing the find button at the bottom of the page.
The Credit Union generally has the word “Federal” or the initials F.C.U. in its name and is regulated by the NCUA. Please Send complaints to:

You can access the National Credit Union Association website under find a credit union to determine if your credit union is federally insured and also to make certain it is a federal credit union. After you enter the name of the credit union into the find feature, you can look under “Credit Union Type”; FISCU indicates it is regulated by a state financial institution, for Arizona it is AZDFI. FCU indicates the Credit Union is a Federal credit union and is regulated by NCUA.
The Following Credit Unions Operate in Arizona and Are Regulated by Other State Regulators. Complaints and Questions Related to These Entities Should Be Sent Directly to the State Regulator Indicated.
If you do not see your credit union on this list and the credit union is not regulated by AZDFI, and it does not have Federal, or the initials FCU in its name, you can access the National Credit Union Association’s website at Find a Credit Union to make sure your credit union is federally insured and if it is a state chartered credit union. When you access NCUA’s find a credit union, web page, enter your credit union name, if the results of your search indicates your credit union is non-federally regulated under field of membership, you will send your complaint to the state that is listed under the Contact Information on that same page. Once you determine it is a state chartered credit union, you can visit the National Credit Union Association’s website under State Credit Union Regulators for a link to each state regulator’s website where you can file your complaint.

If you do not see your bank on this list and the bank is not regulated by AZDFI, and it does not have National, the initials N.A., Federal or F.S.B. in its name, you can access the Federal Deposit Insurance Corporation’s website at Bank Find to make sure your bank is federally insured by the Federal Deposit Insurance Corporation, if it is a member of the Federal Reserve, and also to confirm if it is a state chartered bank. When the results show the bank you are looking for; look on the class, if the class shows SM or NM, you will send your complaint to the state regulator and that state will show under the “State” heading. You may then visit the Conference of State Bank Supervisor’s website under CSBS Directory of State Banking Departments for quick and easy access to contact information for each state regulator and also the state’s website where you can look up the bank and confirm it is on their list of banks they regulate.
